Goa is India's smallest state by area and the fourth smallest by population.
LOCATION
State : Goa
Located on the west coast of India in the region known as the Konkan, it is bounded by the state of Maharashtra to the north, and by Karnataka to the east and south, while the Arabian Sea forms its western coast.

Bhagwan Mahaveer Sanctuary with an area of 240 sq. kms is the largest wildlife preserve of Goa. Located at the foot of the Western Ghats near Molem village, the sanctuary is 53 kms away from Panaji. Molem National Park lies in the heart of Bhagwan Mahaveer Sanctuary. Bondla Wildlife Sanctuary is set 10 kms in the northeast direction of Usgao Tisk village in North Goa. It is one of the small preserves in Goa, covering the area of just 8 sq. kms. The most famous forts in Goa include the Aguada Fort, the largest Portuguese fort in Goa; Cabo da Rama fort associated with the epic of Ramayana where Lord Rama spent few days with Sita during his exile from Ayodhya; Chapora Fort near Mapusa, built in 1617 by the Portuguese on a Muslim site and Terekhol Fort on the Terekhol River built by Maharaja Khem Sawant Bhonsle in the 17th century. The popular museums and art galleries in Goa are the State Archaeology Museum in Panaji opened on 29th Sept 1977 with seven galleries.

Airways
Goa's international airport, which is situated at Dabolim, is 29 km from the capital, Panaji, on the coast near Vasco da Gama.
Railways
Reaching Goa by train is easy from Mumbai (490 km), Bangalore (430 km), and Delhi (1874 km). Goa's two main stations are at Margao and Vasco da Gama.
Roadways
Goa, Maharashtra and Karnataka state transport corporations operate from Panaji's Kadamba bus stand. An interesting mode of conveyance in Goa is the motorcycle taxi. Unique to this state, these "taxis" carry only one passenger.
Waterways
Several ferry services are also available. A few shipping companies operates boat service between Mumbai and Panaji.
